#36: ICONIC IMAGES—Develop them with a story.

The world is full of a rainbow-of-kids, and Jane & Jake’s Adventures to Awesome focuses on the beautiful colors that make up our inner awesome! That’s what we thought about when creating these supporting iconic brand images.

This “swirls of colors” graphic was designed with our brand concept in mind, but the 10 colors that represent our [31 chapter book] series was the key.

When developing a consecutive brand, supporting graphics and iconic images should tie into the mission of the organization–this creates a strong visual brand identification system; therefore, we took our core ten colors (see the Pearls of Power™ graphic example below) and literally stretched them into a rainbow line of colors. When the line is connected into a circle, it becomes and infinity of power! Wow, what a strong graphic image.

Multiplying the circles and off-setting them against one another, gives a great image of movement, energy, and visual appeal—three strong meanings for a very good image. Taking the circles as our “base,” we built about 40 individual icons with different inner circle elements of colors and silhouetted images (these images are peppered throughout the JNP website as iconic landmarks for each element of the site and its categories); a great way to visually tie page to page, and section to section, with such a large site an multiple navigational options. All colors added were from our brand color palette system ( details noted in previous blogs).

When it came to developing an iconic representation for our Parent Activity Guides and Educational Curriculum, we wanted to have the same “story” support that icon, yet with an additional meaning which defined “education.” The circles for that icon (JNP icon above) were then”loosened” (with a wider format of swirls) because we felt that when kids are in an educational mode, they are open to explore and absorb knowledge—expanding their empowerment, so to say.

Join Jane, Jake and all their friends on the adventures to discover your inner awesome, together!

Note: This Blog is a chronological diary of a start-up-company—The JNP Project’s Journey—reading it from the start, will broaden your understanding of the path we are on, together, and hopefully, positively influence you in some way!

FYI Tip: Think through your strategy with your visual iconic images. Your color continuity and design, along with a strong back-story to your images, will insure that your brand will prevail.
