#1: Animation For Apps and Streaming, That’s Right!

After reviewing and contemplating the great response from kids, and parent too, on the initial [brand testing] release, I was certain that an animation series for kids television would be a cinch—the characters were so well loved, and the education of self-esteem a no-brainer!

animation-booksI was set on this medium. I loved animation, and growing up with all the Disney, Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters — I was inspired to bring the JNP Characters to living color!

Now, to prepare: I first needed to understand the process of assembling an Animation Pitch—the actions needed to create the pitch, and the cost associated with those actions. Through networking, I found an excellent animation producer locally. We had several phone conversations, and a round table with two producers and their technical animation artist. I would prepare sketch drawings, and story lines, and they could assemble it for me. Before I would commit to invest so much, I wanted to investigate my options for success. I researched and attended the Women 2.0 Conference in NYC. I met Geraldine Laybourne, Nickelodeon Executive, and point blank, she told me to go into another direction. The market would be too hard to break into. Period. So I took her advice.

I went back to the drawing table, literally, and thought through other options in which The JNP Project could live, thrive and grow. It was apparent that a story series would need to be developed, but how exactly did I want to distribute this outstanding brand? I needed to research my options…
