A chapter-book series… oh, but much more than just a series of stories.
Adventure stories that could entertain, enlighten and shed colorful light onto the wonderful inner awesome that is within each of us. Fun for kids, and adults too, I needed to develop a full-circle of stories that had meaning, a lesson, and rewards for kids to build on. Not just a series of stories, but an entire brand of self-esteem building stories and accessories that also involved color and creativity.
As an artist and designer, color needed to be a vital element in this brand. We are all made up of fabulous colors inside and out, and the adventure series had to follow that philosophy. The adventure stories are paramount, but in addition, an awesome interactive website needed to be developed, and some fun merchandising pieces to support and advertise the brand were necessary as well.
My first priority was to flesh out my ideas of the ten core values (10 stories, one relating to each value). With careful thought and research, I chose the most important character traits that made up a solid character. I assigned a color which coordinated to each trait, and to round it all out, black would represent all of your character (as in art, black is mixed from the essence of all colors) –empowerment and inner awesome—“Me!”
Once the first series was created about understanding what character traits you have, I felt it necessary to then develop the “I AM” series, and “I CAN; I WILL” series—each set of stories educating character, showing how to use your character, and emphasizing that you can be empowered to have self-confidence and esteem because of your character.
The reward would then be obtaining the understanding of each character trait and receiving all ten of the colors of the “Pearls of Power” — creating “your” “Circle of Power” which then lives within your heart.
